A CELEBRATION OF KOREAN FOOD AND CULTURE

The Celebration of Korean Food and Culture was a local DW course centered around the goal of allowing students to familiarise themselves with not only the culture of our host country, Korea, but also with its food and other traditions. We spent our time largely dedicated to learning how to cook traditional Korean dishes such as: kimchi, bulgogi, bibimbap, and more at the Ongo Cooking School, located in the Nakwon area (near Insadong). We also spent time touring the Bukchon Hanok Villages and the Gyungbok Palace area which are two very famous traditional sights in Korea. Finally we also got to experience wearing the traditional outfit of Korea, the hanbok, and had a rickshaw tour. Overall, this course helped students engage with the more traditional aspects of Korea and its culture.
