A JAPANESE WALKABOUT

This Discovery Week will allow students to participate in agricultural service, Japanese cooking, charcoal making, Japanese arts and crafts, a temple visit and a Yanagibashi Market visit.

It is a great opportunity to get to know the Japanese culture and to work with locals as well as acquire new skills.

"Our trip to rural Japan was eye-opening and really allowed us to disconnect from our city lives. We were opened to a lot of new perspectives that don't exist in our every day lives. Through meeting with local rice farmers and workers, we were shocked by their extreme kindness and patience with foreign teenagers. We got in touch with traditional culture in its purest form, even through a homestay experience. We'll never forget their incredible hospitality and the amazing food that they were so willing to provide. Our trip to Japan taught us a lot about values and morals that we'll carry with us for a long time."
